Brief:

The assignment is comprised of 4 tasks. The outputs from each sprint (where possible) should consider a bilingual or multilingual approach i.e. English / Te-Reo Māori or English / Hindi.

Design sprint planning: Using a modified design sprint template introduced in the studio, you will begin by mapping out a sprint process for the exercises listed below. Students will identify the subtasks and priority levels of each task to realise the exercise through this process. This process will act as an execution plan for the three exercises below.

UX/UI exercise: You are tasked with prototyping an extension for Auckland Transport's mobile app that encourages children to opt for public transport instead of a private car. The target age group is around 6 years of age and you are encouraged to draw upon your own childhood experiences to inform your approach to designing this app. You will decide on the features that are the most relevant and develop them through an iterative design process. Outputs from this exercise will be prototyped and submitted using an industry-standard application.

3D modelling exercise: For this exercise, you will 3D model and render your favourite childhood toy using an industry-standard CAD software package. The rendered output will be formatted into a promotional poster. Optionally - you are welcome to use photogrammetry techniques and "scan" objects to include in your poster.

Virtual environments exercise: In this exercise, you will explore the dimension of virtual space. You are tasked with reimagining your favourite childhood space for a 6-year-old in VR using Spatial. Your VR experience will act as a medium for cultural exchange and a tool for broadening the users' lens to diverse ways of living around the world.
