What Wows? - D4G Methodology

Description

CHAOS - A lot happened

So last week we were told that we had to have hero shots by the Thursday and I guess it didn't register in my brain last week that I had to panic to get stuff done. I had most of the prototype done, well the pages that I had planned to use for the hero shots, BUT THEN I was prototyping with the wrong frames to use for hero shots (AAAAAHHHH!!!) so then I had to start another file and copy and paste all my elements to the file with the right size frames. BUT THEN I had to resize the elements because they were disproportionate (That was so hard) (there was probably a better way to do all this). I also made some tweaks and added more content so I guess this is prototype 3 or like 2.5 as well as the final prototype.

I also had to think of my marketing strategy, because I wanted to use it in one of my hero shots. I had the idea of a Pokemon-esque 'catch em all' situation but with religious symbols (everybody laughed at the Pokemon reference/phrase). So basically I would have similar looking posters, the only difference being the religious symbol portrayed on each, posted on bus stops posted across central Auckland for the 'catch em all' journey (I came up with a better catchphrase).

Oh there was also the situation of asking some of my peers to pose for some of the pictures that I wanted to use for the thumbnails of my podcast episode mock ups. There was a little mishap of the photos being deleted but since it only took me like 5 minutes to take the photos I wasn't too bothered, and after a youtube tutorial I was able to make it look like how I wanted using photoshop.

Anyway I managed to finish all the hero shots and hand in the poster on time. I also didn't avoid Diana this time and actually got her approval of the marketing strategy and the hero shots I was using.

Feelings

I don't even know how to describe what I was feeling this week, there were a lot of ups and down. I was definitely in constant panic though, there were however moments where my panic lessened a little bit. Like when my mock ups of the bus stop turned out how I wanted, or how well the podcast photos came out, it really elevated the quality of the website.

Evaluations and Analysis

What well was I started organising myself better this week. I made up to do lists and planned for my hero shots, which photos I wanted to include in my poster. I think what didn't go well was that I was trying to find the balance of calm an panic to be productive. I was always too panicked or too calm, this was not the time to figure this out.

Conclusion and Action plan

I really see the need for a timeline paired with a to do list. Though I know from my previous timeline that I was on track, I guess it wasn't specific enough because it was just a bit chaotic this week. Next time in addition to my timeline I might also create a priority to do list, so that I know which tasks need to be done in which order.
